upcoming plans

So, here I am back in Cincinnati. Over my previous years in Cincy, there was much I wanted to do, but being the lazy person I am, I never did. But, this time is going to be different. Between now and Augustish, I am going to do the following:

Go to a Reds game.
Go to the zoo.
Go to the symphony.
Go to the art museum.
Go to the museum center.

At first, I was thinking about maybe doing it all in one day, kind of like on Ferris Bueller's Day off. But, then I realized how expensive that would be, so I'll spread it out over the next few months. And, since I first came up with this, a few other things have been added. First of all, in an effort by Mel to educate and culturefy (culturefy is my word, not hers), the opera has been added to the list. And this is a good thing, because even though I took music appreciation my Freshman year of college, I missed a lot of it because some of my senior "role models" would convince me to skip or leave early to go eat breakfast. Even still, I was there on the day we discussed opera, and the professor showed us "What's Opera Doc?" So, that's the extent of my opera education. I want to see Rigaletto. However, I wish "The Marraige of Figaro" was playing, just so afterwards I could say, "I don't know what those I-talian ladies were singing about. And the truth is, I don't want to know. Hopefully, they were singing about something so beautiful that it can't be described with words." And if anyone knows what I'm talking about, well, I may give you some sort of prize.

And then the final thing: The Fried Chicken Tour of the South.

This all started when Ed and I were lamenting the lack of decent fried chicken in Cincinnati. Anyway, a few days later, we were watching part of the SEC basketball tournament, which was sponsered by "Alabama Tourism." Ed commented that we should go to Alabama, since they probablly had good fried chicken. I pointed out that we need not drive all the way to Alabama, since Kentucky has plenty of good fried chicken. Thus, the premise of the Fried Chicken Tour of the South was born.

Basically, it is a contest, who has the better fried chicken: Kentucky or Alabama.

So, here is how it goes:

Drive through Kentucky (via Louisville), and pick up some chicken.
Drive through Tennesee (via Nashville), and stop and eat some chicken.
Drive to Alabama, pick up some chicken.
Drive to Georgia, to Savannah, were Ed can get some good lemonade and I cn get some souther style sweet tea. This is where the judging will take place.
Drive back through Tennesee (via Knoxville), and maybe stop by Gatlinburg.
Drive back through Kentucky, with a stop in Corbin to visit the Col. Sanders museum.
Arrive back in Cincinnati.

Awesome, huh. So, it looks like I have an eventful spring/summer planned. If anyone wants to help me cross stuff off the list, I'm looking for people!!!
