the blog turns one

As of Tuesday, I have been blogging for one year now. It's been a great deal of fun. It's helped me clear my head at times, and it's helped me keep up with friends near and far. I thought about doing a year in review post, but I'm way too lazy to pull that together. But, I did go through my archives just to see where all I was over the last year. Then I figured if anyone really cared, they could just go through the archives as well instead of me making up some post about it. But, I did notice one thing: my blog lacks the obligatory "introductory post." You know, the whole "who I am" and "what I'm going to do with this blog" post, usually the first post. So, here it is, the introductory post, a year late, and a little bit different.

Who I am

I think thunderstorms are awesome.
I think summer is the best season of the year.
I think Chick-Fil-A is the best fast food resturaunt ever.
I don't miss very many Kentucky games.
I think Kentucky is the best of the 50 states.
I might live overseas someday, but I'm not sure yet.
I think my brother is the coolest guy I know.
I never turn down a hug (thanks to Brack's advice).
I walk to clear my mind, I play piano to clear my soul.
I play guitar to get chicks (and NO, it really doesn't work.)
I only like coffee about twice a year.
I think Cherry Coke is the best drink ever invented.
I just want to be alone sometimes.
I can't stand being alone sometimes.
I think I could be a pretty good writer, if I wasn't so lazy.
I have trouble putting words and music together, but I can usually write one or the other.
I think the Baroque and Classic Rock eras were the golden ages of music.
I think “The Critic” was underrated.
I think U2 is overrated.
I think Peter Gallagher's eyebrows are one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
I am generally an optimist.
I fear rejection above all other things.
I lean somewhat liberal politically, but I don't think the Democratic party has a clue right now.
I bowl anywhere between 50 and 150 (and last night was closer to 50).
I think Brahm's Requiem is the most brilliant composition ever.
I think the violin and the piano are the two most beautiful instruments.
I have a great sense of direction.
I have a brilliant long term memory.
I have a horrible short term memory.
I think DC Comics ruined Mad Magazine.
I'm not down with the DC Talk.
I don't like worship CD's, yet 90 percent of my CD collection is worship.
I feel I've done a pretty good job of avoiding Christian pop culture.
I don't acknowledge that Michael Bolton even exists.
I think the Sandlot is the best movie ever.
I wish I had Michael “Squints” Palladorious' skills with the ladies.
I don't think I'll ever be good at the whole "dating" thing.
I love biscuits and gravy.
I think Weird Al is a genius.
I don't want to be rich.
I kind of want to be famous.
I'm convinced that July 31 WILL be a national holiday someday.
I know I have an odd sense of humor, but I enjoy it.
