anoint thee with oil
In case anyone was wondering what the "anoint the doors of CCU" comment Kevin made was about, there is actually a back story to that . . .
April 2001. I was interning at the Christian Campus Fellowship at Vincennes University. Some students among a couple of the campus ministries, out of a desire for unity, put together a joint praise service, called Awakening 2001. I was asked to lead the joint worship team, which I was glad to do. Ironically, this event led to more division than unity, but that's not the issue here.
Awakening was to be held on a Monday. The previous Friday night, some of the team members met on campus to pray over the event. Well, one of the girls on the planning team (I think she was the prayer team leader) had a friend who was visiting from Indiana State. She had him give a testamony. So, he dives right in, and the premise of the whole thing is that he had gone around the campus of ISU anointing all of the doorknobs with oil. As he goes on, I'm kinda thinking, "I don't really think there is a biblical precedent for that." So, then, he talks about how this anointing left an estimated $3000 worth of damage to the campus. But, he didn't care, because, as he rationalized it, he was doing God's work.
A weird night . . . a weird time . . .
VANDALISM for JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, it feels good to have finished up my 15 page paper!!!!!
