back y'all
Dang it's been a while. It's been so long that I've pretty much guaranteed that anyone who actually read this site has no forgotten about it (there go my 20 readers a day). It's been so long that blogger was no longer even in the history of my browser.
You want excuses?? I've got excuses. Actually, it's one of those things where I take this site to seriously. I've had a lot of stuff rolling around in my head over the last couple of weeks, just waiting to be typed out. But, my only access has been at work, and it's been a semi-busy couple of weeks. So, I kept waiting till I had time to write out this "super" post that would blow you all away and settle every issue that has ever come up. But, that post never came. And it's just as well. Who wants to read that anyway. Does anyone care why I'm voting for Bush over Kerry. No! I don't think Bush and Kerry even care, really.
So anyway, the big event over the last couple of weeks happened this past Saturday. On Saturday, I officially became old. That's right, I had my 10 year high school reunion. Has it really been 10 years. Anyway, I was a geek in high school. I didn't hit cool until college, and then I quickly became a geek again, which is fine by then because none of that matters anymore at that point. But, due to some of the "traumatic" expirences of my youth, I was kinda torn as to whether I would even go to my reunions. But, curiosity won out over any old bitterness, and I ended up going.
The one thing everyone always tells you about class reunions is that basically everyone changes over 10 years and no matter how bad high school was, the reunion is a happy time where everyone comes together in some utopian harmony that makes the world a better place. Or something like that. And there is some truth to that . . . people do grow up. Of course, some of the people who ignored me then continued to do so. But that's fine. Only one of my close friends ended up being there, coming to the afternoon picnic we had. It was good catching up with him. And it was good seeing all the other people too. Then that evening, none of my "crowd" was really there. But for a while I chatted with some of my other classmates, and it was pretty cool. For a while. The thing is, even though people are nicer, that only takes you through the, "Hi, how are you, what are you doing now?" stage. After that, an event like this requires looking back and laughing on the good ole days. And, if you don't have a lot of shared memories with these people, then the conversation runs dry quick. So, I got bored and left early.
But, I'm glad I made an apperance. I chatted with one guy for a while that I never really talked to during school, and he turned out to be really cool. It was good saying hi to everyone and finding out what has happened to everyone. But, it definately wasn't the utopian make the world a better place kinda thing.
But, it did make me appreciate the close friends that I do have. You guys rock!!
