Smokin' in the rain
Today is so rainy. It's the epitome of sleep weather. When I got in to work this morning, it was pouring. I come in at 9:00, which is the time of the first smoking break for all of the smokers in the building. I tell you what, smokers really are the most dedicated people in the world. Of course, most workplaces are now smoke free. But, these smokers will NOT be deterred. There they were, huddled under an umbrella getting their fix. Of course, as a non-smoker, I don't like having to walk through that smoke. It's not enough that they can't smoke inside, I want them away from the door as well. I want them on the other side of the parking lot. My rights are being VIOLATED. Okay, it's not really that big of a deal. But I am blown away by their dedication.
Other random thoughts and observation.
1. Seaking of dedication, I read Daniel last night. Talk about some hard core guys. Like the smokers, they were dedicated, faced persecution, and kept on going. A lot blew me away, but the part that really got me was when Shaderack, Meshack, and Abendigo were about to be thrown into the furnace. King Neb asked them how their God was going to save them, and their reply was (paraphrased), "God might save us, he might not, but either way, we aren't bowing to your God." They knew that God's will could go either way, but they knew that regardless of outcome God was taking care of them. It was a timely lesson for me.
2. Bonds hit 660. And I missed it.
3. This is a fun site. Some of it is kind of lame, but the TV and Cartoon themes will bring back some memories.
4. After reading Tommy Stewart's blog yesterday, it reminded me that I am going to die bitter and alone. But, as I've thought about it, it's not such a bad thing.
5. My supervisor just said, "It's cold and rainy. It's so bad I don't even want to go out and smoke." Well, I guess like, with anything else, some people just aren't that dedicated.
